The University of Miami, for the second season in a row, will self-impose a bowl ban.
Coming off a large victory against USF, UM administrators have agreed to not participate in a bowl game this year in an attempt to have a less harsh punishment from the NCAA. The following statement was released by the University of Miami:
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami has made the decision to withhold the football team from bowl consideration for the 2012 postseason. The decision was made in response to the ongoing NCAA inquiry and the University has informed both the NCAA and the Atlantic Coast Conference of its decision. The decision also means that should the Miami football team qualify for the ACC Championship Game, it will not be eligible to participate.
This may be depressing for some die hard Hurricane fans, but you might as well deal with the inevitable now rather than later. All we can assume is that the university knows more about what the NCAA is planning on doing than the public.
